Rare antique, 19th century, Balkan - Greek, silver-plated, brass gun powder flask of flattened spherical form made of several separate elements of cast brass fused together. It is a quite spectacular piece. The front and back are formed of and has detailed depictions on both sides of saint George slaying the dragon. The sides are applied with chain suspension mounts in the form of cherub heads. The bottom sides are applied with double-headed crowned Greek Byzantine eagles surmounted. The top is fitted with two spout, with its original stoppers secured to the flask with a chain. A nice, good-quality example of a classic Greek powder flask in style often associated with the Greek War of Independence (1821–1832). CONDITION: In very good untouched condition, showing the age and usage with nice patina.
